I just posted some video I shot at last year's Memorial Day Ceremony at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.

One is "God Bless America" sung by Nancy Myers.

The other is of a young man playing taps.

A new book called "THE PIONEER MUSTANG GROUP" by Steve Blake

I just received an email from Steve Blake announcing that his book about the 354th Fighter Group is being published. I have heard about this project when I first started research on our film and am looking forward to buying a copy! I am sure the information in it will be helpful!

According to Steve, the book "is about 450 pages and has over 600 photos. The main text is in the narrative style, including lots of quoted material, which is supported by some very extensive and detailed appendices".

Many of the men we interviewed have been interviewed for Steve's book.

The book will be available from the Schiffer Publishing website.

Also, a reader of this blog let me know he saw that the book can be pre-ordered from Borders or Barnes and Noble's websites. Prices may vary!

Bill's Diary - Jim Howard Goes to Head Quarters

On my trip to Miami last month, I was finally able to see Bill's diary. Up until then I had only seen a photocopy of it.

Now I will be able to scan the entire diary in color for the documentaries and this website.

One of the first pages that we scanned in color was this one. In this diary entry, Bill writes that "Col. J. H. Howard's ship "Ding Hao" had gone to 9th Fi Command Hdq. Lt. Bickel replaced Col. Howard." There is also a nice photo of Ding Hao I had not seen yet!

Do you recognized these men?

WWI BLOG

I just read a Yahoo news story about this webblog. It is a very interesting personal account of a soldier in World War I.

Take a look!
