A Moment to Honor a Co-Worker's Brother

Corporal Charles P. Gaffney, a brother of a co-worker, was killed in an attack in Afghanistan on December 24.

He was a father of two.

In mid-December his sister had many of our co-workers sign a Christmas Card for a care package she was sending to him. He never received it.

Please take a moment to remember our fallen soldiers.

This is a link to a short article about him.

Nathan Glick drawing of the 354th's Jim Edwards

One of the first documents I was sent from the US Military Archives was a small collection of photos and drawings called 'The Glick Papers."

In it were a few drawings by Nathan Glick who spent time making war illustrations for the US Army/Air Corp. We interviewed Nathan and met his daughter and wife at a reunion.

Here is one of my favorite pieces of Nathan's art. It is of the 354th's Jim Edwards.

We were very fortunate that Francesca Esquenazi and Chuck and Phyllis Tighe arranged for us to meet and interview Jim Edwards at the last reunion.

Alfred Styrsky Photos

One of the men of the 354th Fighter Group mentioned in Bill Perkins' diary is Alfred Styrsky.

Alfred Styrsky's son Al recently sent me some amazing photos from his Dad's collection. He also sent some great video of his Dad's gun camera footage.

Here are a few photos that may be of interest to readers of this blog:
