James Howard was the only fighter pilot in the ETO to be awarded the Medal of Honor during WWII. James Howard was leading a flight of P-51s on January 11, 1944 when he found himself alone protecting a squadron of US bombers from about 40 German enemy planes. Peter Wilson, General F. New Video - Edward R. Regis Tribute
Edward R. Regis was a fighter pilot in the 353rd Fighter Squadron. In this tribute video he talks about his time as a P-51 pilot, getting shot down and becoming a POW. He also talks about "The Great March" in which hundreds of thousands of Allied POWS were forced to march across Germany in blizzard conditions.
